“Can a single behavior elevate an entire organization? It can–if it’s the right behavior.” (LISA EARLE MCLEOD )
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking around two articles about change that I read recently. {The One-Minute Change That Will Transform Your Company and Find Your Keystone Habit } More than thinking, I want to implement, and I would like to invite you to join me.
What an amazing question these two articles pose: “What one habit or action could you start doing today that would create a sort of chain reaction transformation in what you do?”
The articles aim at business owners, but I think they can be totally applied to teachers, marriages, families, and well – anywhere really. What do you think?
I’m working on my 2013 goals and planning. I am working with Chris Brogan’s really great idea of 3 Words to help define and focus your activities over the coming year. I am going to add my ‘Keystone habit’ to my still under construction 3 Words for 2013. Would you like to know what that keystone habit will be?
Organization. From getting my tax papers in order and delivered to my accountant on time EVERY time, to working with my wife and family to keep our home in order – this 2013 will be the year relentless organization for me. My keystone habit.
Applications to Teaching?
There are many applications, but the biggies: 1. A lesson plan for every lesson. 2. Reports to clients promptly delivered when we promise. 3. Regular evaluations and feedback.
If I’m successful at making Organization my keystone habit, I think I will quickly begin to see great changes happen around me.
What about you? What’s your keystone habit going to be this 2013?
