Attack the myths. “Machines dont fight wars, people do, and they use their minds,” was a statement that Col. John Boyd USAF whom Vandergriff cites used in his advocacy for development of people as well as aircraft and weaponry. In short, technology is only as good as the people using it. Therefore, invest in people development so that people are prepared to make good decisions with the resources, technological, financial and human they have. (John Baldoni, Change the Way We Develop Leaders)

I like this quote. I think it captures the essence of how important ongoing training and professional development is. Our solution is all about people. Even though this year will see us using technology and the internet to a greater extent than ever before to serve our clients, I’m totally convinced that it’s the PEOPLE not web 2.X, that will make a difference.

“Technology is only as a good as the people using it.” I really like this quote, and the one above. Many times I think companies fall into the trap of looking for the next killer ap – the tool that will help them work better – more efficiently at the expense of the people who will use it.   I know I’m guilty of that – I love the net, and using technology. But what our focus needs to be on is helping the people working with you. Pro D needs to help them become proficient with the technology about to be deployed. (I’m preaching to myself here.)

Note to self: I can only expect technology solutions to work well if our people are trained to use them well. Technology will not save the day on its own.
